Lift all sanctions and the country will prosper. The UA and the west wanted to kill the country when they can't get it through Aung Sang Su Kyi. They bend on destroying Myanmar. The west and US motives, use Myanmar as proxy for war with China which is next door. The US can't get the others in Asean to be proxies, Myanmar is the last frontier for US . Miss Aung is a puppet tto the west. The west medias will continue to lie and paint a sad picture and degrade this beautful country. Now they arm the minorities to fight the Govt. All the lies they portrait to the world.

This is the most insufferable debate around China I’ve watched. Do the anti-China brigade realise that China and Taiwan already have strong economic ties together? And the China-neutrals continually leveraging neutrality on the issue, it verges on appeasement to the anti-China arguments. Not every foreign relationship is colonial…

Kudos to Ambassadoe Burns. My takeaway: Facts! “Other side arguing over basic facts, and the facts are incontrovertible!”. Most times, I feel messages sent over social media or press releases are just for its people living in the country rather than greater world. And many of the comments here that disagree with this meeting and world peace at large, are just trolls of the regime, just like the person that rudely interrupted the Ambassador in the middle of his conversation, she’s abusing Freedom of speech act in the US

india got fucked by colonization, it was divided when the colonists came and it is still divided when the colonists left. India will never ever be comparable to china. Anyone who says india was richer than china or more innovative than china throughout history is a fool. China has for the majority of history been economically and technologically superior to india. Had the mongols not set china back a few hundred years the gap would be even greater.

The USA cannot be trusted and China's assertiveness is but a response to US's efforts to contain China militarily with bases all over South China Sea and ganging up with Japan, Korea and Philippines etc and also trying to prevent China from increasing its geopolitical influence that comes with its growing economy. Nicholas is just a parrot of US propaganda.

India cannot replicate China's economic success. First of all, Indians are too proud of themselves to learn from others especially its immediate big neighbor which India considers hostile. Secondly, India is so plight with all sorts of internal problems - to name a few - lack of infrastructure, most recently on 17/6/24, two trains collided in the Indian state of West Bengal; rampant corruption amonst the various political parties for example, allegations of cheating and corruption in national entrance exams for medical colleges; racial and religious violence - the major incidences include the 1969 Gujarat riots, 1984 Sikh massacre, the 1989 Bhagalpur riots, 1989 Kashmir violence, Godhra train burning, 2002 Gujarat riots, 2013 Muzaffarnagar riots and 2020 Delhi riots. India surpasses China to be the most populous nation in 2022 but the former will face mounting challenge to cater for the huge and explosive population in the next 20 years beyond.

Sometimes it's extremely hard to listen to western analysts and stay focussed on what they say. If you look at just about all predictions in the 1990s and most of the 2000s, they almost all predicted India will be the next superpower and not China. The reason given was almost always China is about to collapse. Why? Because it's not a democracy. (Sometimes even that excuse was not needed). And then it turns out that China didn't collapse as they predicted, and suddenly you see these analysts come back out and say it's because of all these X number of factors. But wait a minute. All these factors they raise as reasons are not new!! They have always been there (for example, tendency to save, etc etc) So if China was supposed to collapse even though it always has had all these factors all along, then why is it that these same old factors suddenly would explain why China DIDN'T collapse. It doesn't make any sense.

China's economic success is at the heart of why the West has always feared and hated "communism"...even w/ a Chinese character. Capitalism (privately owned bus. and industries) cannot compete with industries and resources that are well managed by the central authority of a nation-state who have access to the collective contributions of their population. This is what capitalist have always understood, and now insert terms like "overcapacity" into the lexicon to divert from having to explain capitalisms failure to compete in the free market. It reminds me how they invented the term "whataboutism" to divert from having to justify brazenly hypocritical positions.

George Yeo is promoting ideas that benefits or at least not harming his own country, namely Singapore. For the USA we don't really care about relationship with China. The rest of the West can also ignore China. But Singapore will be in a bad shape if China economy and trades with the west tank. He is speaking for Singapore. USA and the West rightfully have been ignoring him.
